Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, Miami, La Gamba Restaurant is a purveyor of fine Spanish dining and gourmet seafood from Chef Agusti Comabella.
Our concept is not to distort the Iberian cuisine but rather to stay true to its roots, taking care to adhere to classic recipes. That’s not to say that our Chef de Cuisine Agusti Comabella does not venture into the uncharted. Our weekly specials focus on superb interpretations of classic dishes.
You’ll find our Spanish style to have undertones of Mediterranean and Catalan flavours which are manifested in our Paella and seafood dishes.
Both our fish and seafood come to us fresh from Spain and the mediterranean twice a week. We use premium Calasparra rice for our Paella’s, which are perfumed and colored with the highest grade of natural saffron. We never use artificial ingredients. We are fresh obsessed!
In addition to our seafood, all our cured meats and cheeses are imported directly from Spain and procured from small scale farmers with a long linage of expertise, tradition and love for good food.
La Gamba has become a reference point for Spanish cuisine in the city of Miami and meeting place for foodies and experienced gourmets alike.

Agusti Comabella, Chef de Cuisine
Agustí’s family tradition has been linked to the restaurant and hospitality industry since the 19th century in the city of Barcelona, Spain. Several generations of the Comabella family have worked as restauranteurs and chefs, creating an environment that developed and nurtured Agustí’s as a gourmet from an early age.
Agustí continued his education through the Escuela Superior de Hosteleria de Barcelona and through his career as professional chef in establishments of haute cuisine throughout Spain, France and United States. Agustí specializes in classic Spanish and Catalan dishes with a particular focus in fresh seafood and Paella.
Maria Elena Otero, Founder
While living in Barcelona, Spain, Maria Elena fell in with the flavors, aromas, colors and tradition of classic Spanish cuisine. This infatuation drove her to enrol at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, and at El Alambrique in Barcelona, where she had the privilege of studying under the likes of Paul Bocuse, Jean Marie Arzac and Santi Santamaria. In addition, she traveled to Lyon where she studied under Alain Chapel.
As a young girl, Maria Elena vacationed in Miami and as fate would have it moved here permanently in 2013 and shortly after founded La Gamba restaurant with her husband and two sons.
